Do you think Forza games shall be played with a Steering wheel or should I stick with the controller? Rank: C-Class Racing License.

Forza games are not sims, they're best described as simcade, the physics are not on the same level as more sim like titles, such as assetto corsa and pcars, but they are more than decent enough on a wheel, and if you tinker with the options you can get F7, and F6, fh3, feeling quite good. There doesn't seem to be alot of suspension rebound feedback from F7, but apart from that it's more than good enough to fully enjoy on a wheel.

Fh4 has a 60fps option for the X, I'll be using that when playing with a wheel, and the 30fps 4k mode when I'm lounging on the sofa playing on my monster t. As for the G, it's a decent entry level wheel, and it'll serve you well, just don't expect miracles from it, it's based on old hellical gearing that was dated before the wheel even came out, but for the price you can get one with a shifter and clutch pedal, well put it this way, my setup with a shifter and clutch cost many times more.

IS GETTING A RACING WHEEL FOR FORZA HORIZON 4 WORTH IT?

For information today i have bought AC competizione, and with my wheel i feel it "arcade" and i have stopped after one hour, but with FH4, i have played 3 hours non stop!!!! Rank: Driver's License. Although Force-feedback is nice, the addition of the belt significantly increases the price of the hardware. It has a ton of customization for sensitivity on both the wheel and the pedals as well.

The only negative is that the base for the pedals are not heavy enough to prevent them from sliding if you slam your foot down, I've found that resting your heels on the footrest and pushing on the pedals with the balls of your feet don't cause it to slide though. Given at how FH4 really isn't the kind of game where you can just hold the accelerator down and easily turn corners, I'd say that anyone who uses a wheel is going to have an advantage over someone using a pad because shoulder-triggers simply don't give you as much control over your speed as pedals do.

Whilst it's fun, even the Motorsport games play much better with a controller. For an arcade game like Horizon 4, you should completely forget about using a wheel.

FH4 demo on a wheel is very glitchy for me. I have the thrustmaster Ferrari spider and no matter how much i tinker with the settings I am still left with no wheel response until I tilt the wheel about 45 degrees in kpop accident fanfic direction.

Connecting steering wheel to play Forza Horizon 4

I got F7 and FH3 before i got a trs wheel and pedal set. I am sorry but if u really think this way you have no idea about what the FFB in a racing game should be like. AC and PC2 are superb examples of how a wheel should be integrated in a game. FH4 wheel support is worse than arcade feel. It is unpredictable sloppy and does never feel right.Due to high volumes, response times in the community may be delayed over the next few days.

Please refer to our self-help content for additional assistance. Thank you! Microsoft Support. I downloaded the game, installed it, all works fine and clear.

But when I connected my steering wheel Thrustmaster Ferrari Italia the situation has changed completely. When I'm trying to change the buttons functions f. Same in-game, i can't turn, adding gas and other functions are not working but game still see that as controller. As stated you will need to work with the manufacturer or the developer of the game. Microsoft does not make these accessories so we are unclear as to what the issue can be.

Did this solve your problem? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. October 6, Due to high volumes, response times in the community may be delayed over the next few days. Hi there! I bought Forza Horizon 4 yesterday and I'm still angry at that game. Anyone else are having same issues? Please, give me any tips or help cause I'm really losing my interest in that game.

Forza Horizon 4 – Best Wheel Settings (Logitech G29)

Problem with Thrustmaster Ferrari Italia. Rank: Driver's Permit. I have a problem with the Thrustmaster Ferrari Italia steering wheel. When I turn on Forza Horizon 4 I can't play this wheel. Could someone help me?

Thank you. Rank: Driver's License. Rank: A-Class Racing License. Rank: Racing Permit. Thrustmaster makes or made the Thrustmaster Italia Spider wheel that has no FFB, just a bungee cord inside for return-to-center, people occasionally get them confused. Rank: Racing Legend. I don't have a thrustmaster wheel - I do have a logitech one though. Just wondering if it's as simple as you're starting the game with a controller and the game not recognising you want to use your wheel? I have an xbox one x - which my wheel is plugged in to pretty much all the time I'm lazy.

Some driving games when I start them with the pad, go hmm there's a wheel connected I assume you want to use that and immediately recognise the wheel. With Forza, if I've signed in with the pad when I booted the machine up - when I go on to forza it doesn't automatically switch to the wheel.

I have to switch the controller off at which point it will ask me which controller I want to use and ask me to press A on the controller to sign in a profile.

I do this with the wheel and I have control on the wheel. I can switch the controller back on, which will work in menus e. It's a pain as if I've had enough of the wheel and want to go back to controller again, I either have to switch the wheel off or sign out on the wheel to get control back to the controller again.

If someone knows a way to switch between the two which is slightly less of a pain, I'd like to hear it. Hopefully that helps - if not, maybe specify a bit more about your set up, what it is and isn't doing, someone may be able to help you.

Good luck. My FM7 Paint Gallery. We recommend that you always start with default settings in your wheel profiler before you start the game, including overall force feedback gain and rotation angle. On the PC you can run degrees from software, but the steering lock in game remains unchanged, so your ratio would differ from the default.

You can adjust this in the game's Steering Sensitivity slider in the Advanced Wheel Settings section below. Forza is known for being controllable and natural on a gamepad and these systems are a major component of that feeling.

There are multiple systems layered together to create Normal steering. Simulation Steering turns these systems off. The input layers of these systems are turned off any time you use a wheel, regardless of the steering setting.

This makes the car somewhat less agile than with Simulation steering, but also more stable. Below are the tunable settings for wheel users. We strongly recommend starting with default settings to get a feel for how your wheel works with the game, then tune for a specific desired outcome, one setting at a time. If you start moving multiple sliders without understanding the effects of each, or how they interact with each other, you may be creating an undesirable experience.

This sets the size of the inner deadzone for steering. The larger this deadzone, the more the steering wheel will need to be moved before the car begins to turn.

This sets the size of the outer deadzone for steering. The larger this deadzone, the less the steering wheel input will be recognized by the game. This sets the mapping between input and steering.

Lower values provide more accuracy near the center but less accuracy near full lock. Higher values provide more accuracy near full lock but less accuracy near the center. This sets the size of the inner deadzone for throttle.

The larger this deadzone, the more the throttle will need to be pressed before the car begins to accelerate. Turn this up if the throttle input is registered when the controller throttle is neutral. This sets the size of the outer deadzone for throttle. The larger this deadzone, the less the throttle will need to be pressed for the car to accelerate as fast as possible.

This sets the size of the inner deadzone for brakes. The larger this deadzone, the more the brakes will need to be pressed before the car begins to slow. Turn this up if the brake input is registered when the controller brake pedal is in neutral position. This sets the size of the outer deadzone for brakes.

The larger this deadzone, the less the brakes need to be pressed for the car to brake as sharply as possible. This sets the size of the inner deadzone for clutch. Turn this up if the clutch input is registered when the controller clutch is neutral. This sets the size of the outer deadzone for clutch. This sets the size of the inner deadzone for e-brake. Turn this up if the e-brake input is registered when the controller handbrake is neutral.

This sets the size of the outer deadzone for e-brake. The larger this deadzone, the less e-brake input will be recognized by the game. Turn this down of the game registers full e-brake before the input is fully pressed. This sets the level of Dynamic Force Feedback strength on your steering wheel.IGN has the tips and tricksstrategies, and secrets you need to succeed in Forza Horizon 4.

Maneuverability plays as much a role in winning a race as speed does. Sure, trading paint is fun How they turn informs what kind of pass you make: either an inside or outside pass. Watch their race line carefully and keep an eye on their speed, how fast they approach a turn, how they slow down and when they slow down. Execute an inside pass when the driver ahead goes in too wide on the turn leaving enough room for you to slide in uninvited.

An outside pass is best when your opponent already has the corner but you have a car that can accelerate faster. Go around on the outside alongside them and duke it out!

Your opponents are also doing this to so try not to give them openings during turns. You can block inside passes by going into turns staying as close to the apex as possible so you have the corner.

Block an outside pass by speeding up like a gentleman, swerving to block the path or just smashing into the other racer. We've all been there. You're doing one of those races with checkpoints every few meters long green flags on either side of the track and you zip through but you don't hear that familiar distinct chime.

So you just keep driving pretending like you didn't just miss a checkpoint until you're flashed a "Checkpoint Missed" message and asked to rewind. If you're having trouble staying on the road to go through the checkpoints for whatever reason, go for the flags! Driving straight through the flag or even clipping it with the hood or side of your car registers as a hit.

Use this new found knowledge to cut ahead cars and execute sweet inside passes as it keeps you as close to the apex of turns as possible. This is especially helpful in Team Adventure races where half of the drivers race like maniacs and there's usually a pile up at almost every corner.

Simply brake, and go off track if necessary but clip the flag to get ahead of the carnage. When approaching turns, decelerate straight into the turn before applying any turn input. You can hit the gas a little to complete the turn, then floor it once you reach the exit. The race line, if you have it turned on, does a great job of letting you know when to slow down and when to speed out. It helps to be really smooth and gentle with your turn inputs as you would in a real car.

How aggressive you are on the wheel depends mostly on the terrain; slow, smooth motion for paved roads, sharp and aggressive turns for dirt and offroad tracks. Another thing you should be aware of going into turns is oversteer and understeer. Speeding into a turn usually causes understeer in Front-Wheel Drive vehicles and oversteer in Rear-Wheel Drive vehicles.

Wheels provide both power or drive and steering and during turns, they can be strained to their limits so it helps to dedicate them to one function either power or steering at any given time. Decelerate into the turn and prioritize steering first before switching to propelling the car out of the turn. Try not to do both at once. To counter this, all you have to do is turn the wheel in the opposite direction to adjust the weight of the car and straighten out the tires.

This is what happens when the front wheels feel unresponsive to turn inputs. This is because the front axle is serving a dual purpose -steering and power - and becomes overburdened.Well, driving it, of course!

I wondered if buying a wheel would make this game much more fun and immersive, so after much debate and looking at the other racing games in my library, I justified buying the Thrustmaster TMX Pro set with T3PA metal pedals with clutch.

I started Forza Horizon 4selected my Subaru Impreza that I rigged for rally racing and took to the pavement, hands gripping my wheel. Oh boy, was that experience nothing short of disappointing, frustrating, and saddening. My experience with those games were much more pleasurable and enjoyable; the cars feel like cars, you can actually catch spin outs, and drifting behaves like, well, drifting. Especially in Dirt 4. After a little more searching and reaching out to the Forza community, it turns out that the Horizon series, with the exception of Horizon 2has always had poor support for racing wheels, despite having settings for force feedback tweaking, dead zones, vibration scaling, etc.

Despite having such a poor initial experience with my TMX, I buckled down and tried finding some decent settings to make my cars handle more like I expected them to, even if it was a little arcade-y. The initial experience was as follows; step on the gas, moving a slow 60 mph, take a right hand turn and… spin out. Reach a top speed on the highway, try to bank left, barely clip grass, a car, or guard rail and… spin out. Try to drift in a hairpin and turn into an aluminum and rubber tornado.

Four hours of failure after failure in recovering from a drift or loss of traction, even when using proper technique one would employ in a sim like Assetto Corsa. I felt that there was something that could be done, whether it be practice or settings, to make this game feel as good on a wheel as it does with a controller, of which this game is obviously primarily built for. After some research, I found some tolerable settings for my wheel, though drifting is almost completely out of the question.

After tweaking these settings, I was able to control my car on casual cruises. So, I opted into some street races to test these settings. This actually ended up feeling quite good! But, as stated before, drifting around banks, hairpins, or recovering from frisky and handsy drivatars slamming into you instantly warrant a race-restart.

Although the settings felt tolerable for races, there was no way they were snappy or accurate enough to use in a PvP settings where people using controllers could counter-steer and recover much more easily as compared to your using a wheel. When you try to recover or your sliding perpendicular in your car, no amount of counter-steering can get you out of it in a timely manner. Honestly, as much as I love my Thrustmaster TMX, I cannot stress enough that using a controller will give you the most edge in online racing and, frankly, fun-factor.

The larger this deadzone, the more the steering wheel will need to be moved before the car begins to turn.

This acts in the center of steering. Usually, any value other than zero will cause a dead area in the center of the wheel travel. Only turn this up if you have trouble traveling in a straight line. The larger this deadzone, the less the outside steering wheel input will be recognized by the game. The larger this deadzone, the more the throttle will need to be pressed before the car begins to accelerate.

The larger this deadzone, the less handbrake input will be recognized by the game. Turn this down of the game registers full handbrake before the input is fully pressed. In Forza Motorsport 7 vibration is used as a tactile sensation to let you know what is happening with the car.

Turning down the vibration scale will not change road feel. Road feel is a physical force coming from the load changes on the tire. This changes all forces which are sent to the wheel including the spring and damper.
